Much as it gratifies the ego to be the subject of fascinating speculations and fantasies, I think I'd rather not add to the feeding frenzy by responding directly. Instead I'll do as I always do and share an uncensored and on-topic photo to this Photo Gallery so all may enjoy.

To be honest Daddy, I don't have a clue if "Sven" is an ISG member or not. I guess I would have a few opinions on the thought though:

Here some decent photos taken with my new camera. The one named new is a girl from Chiang Mai. I think she was quiet sweet and funny. The 1072 and 1098 is a girl from that can be found hanging around in beergarden or Subway. Also good choice for me. The other two photos are from a girl in Tulip massage shop. I think her name was Nice. I did go there 6 times in one week and all of them did have something special at them. When compared to Thonglor two where there might be better looking ones but where the service is lousy.Wanna put some more photos of streetlife in BKK and PP later.

Well, it's the latter since I took most of the pics starting 4 years ago, and have almost 50 different shots of Da.
As for the AFF pics. I think the ones to which you are referring are ones which I admitted at the time were posted on AFF. I met that particular girl in 2005 at Spice girls and she became a regular for a short while. I took pics of her, which, much to my surprise she then later used on her profile on AFF. I've known plenty of non-Isaan girls and non-P4Ps. They all seem to eat Som Tam. Hell even I eat Som Tam Thai of sorts (weak and no Pla-raa (pickled mud-fish), and no MSG). Its definitely great stuff for assisting keeoing trim (with exercise), provided not eaten with sticky rice and sugar kept down.
Som Tam is readily available at restaurants and food courts as well, not just on the street.

Thought somtam was the quintessential Thai street food? I have eaten it everywhere from its cultural home in Isaan, right down to close by the Malay border. And I'm sure its Thais eating it down there rather than Isaan folk! Quite a sophisticated fusion of flavours actually but like most Falang, I like mine sans chillis or them pesky little crabs (blah rah?).
Perfect accompaniment to gai yang and sticky rice.
Interested to know if there really is culinary snobbery amongst upper class Thais, regarding eating street food such as somtam?

I went out with what I would call a mid level wanna be Hi Society girl and she was all up in my face about not eating that stuff (som tam and street food)...
First I thought it was just her snobbish atittude but then I found more acted like her. OTH knows a shit load more then me, but the higher society folks I have to deal with would not be caught dead eating street food.
Personally I don't think it is location thing, like an Isan vs non Isan issue, I think it is more of a high society type (or wanna be high society) vs not high society.
For me.. I enjoy the stuff (with the chilli but sans the crab)

HiSo Thais are predominately Chinese and tend to eat Thai food that leans towards Chinese cuisine, such as Khanom Jeen. Most that I know find traditional Somtam too spicey. Although, I occasionally see students at school eating Somtam Thai (sweet and mild). I don't think it's a snobbery thing so much as just a taste thing. In my experience, they will eat street food, selectively. But, they don't generally sit at outside stalls, unless under some kind of cover away from traffic. You certainly wouldn't find them sitting in one of those places on the sidewalk on Sukhumvit. By the way, lots of Isaan people won't eat certain Thai foods, either like Thai curries, for example - too much like Kaek food and they don't like the taste and especially the smell.

I had the same experience with this girl that I know for a while Half Hi so from a Bangkok good family. Her father owns several gold shops. I order som tam specificity asking not to put peppers . You need to do a little reading about Thai history and culture. I currently have close to 300 university students, about 98% of whom are of Chinese descent.
The King of Thailand has Chinese blood. Amost all Thai high society are of Chinese decent. The current PM is of Chinese descent. Taksin is almost totally Chinese. Etc. Etc. Etc.
In fact, ethnically pure Thais number far less than either those of Chinese decent or other ethnicities such as Lao, Indian etc.
The Chinese have held a prominent place in Thailand since the Sukhothai period in the 14th century.
Any other hasty, ill-informed declarative remarks?

and yes, Thailand is pretty much owned by those with Chinese blood.
