Leaving the Airport

Taxi:

Contact the taxi counter at Level 2 - Arrivals, near entrances 3, 4, 7 and 8.
There is a 50 Baht surcharge and you must pay expressway toll when applicable.

Since the taxi situation is tightly controlled now and they are only allowed to park in certain locations, it would be difficult to impossible to get a cab at Departure level 4.

Rail:

At this time, there is no rail link.

A rail link should be in operation by year-end 2008.

Bus:

The bus station is located several miles away from the Arrivals area.

Fortunately, there is a free Shuttle bus service available. Shuttle bus stops are outside the Arrivals area.

After clearing immigration, collecting your luggage and making it through customs, walk out, cross the first road and proceed to the second one. Once there, go to a shuttle bus stop and wait. A shuttle will arrive within 10 minutes. The ride to the bus station takes about 15 minutes.

At the bus station you have several options:

To Bangkok by City bus:

- Ekamai (Eastern bus station)

- Don Muang (former airport and train station)

- Sai Tai (Southern bus station in Thonburi, across the river in “West-Bangkok”).

More destinations are available.

Destinations are clearly marked on the bus stops and buses in Thai and English!

All tickets are B35 (flat rate).

- Ekamai would be your choice should you want to go to NaNa or other hot spots on Sukhumvit.

At Ekamai you can change to the Skytrain, bus or metered taxi and even to a bus for Pattaya or Jomtiem.

- Don Muang (Bus 555 - Suvarnabhumi – Rangsit and Bus 554 - Suvarnabhumi – Don Muang - Expressway) if you want to go North or North East by train.

- Sai Tai (Bus 556 - Suvarnbhumi - Southern Bus Terminal - Expressway) is ideal if you're headed for Cha'am or Hua Hin and want to travel to those towns by air-con bus.

All city buses appear to run at least every half hour from 05.00-23.00 hours daily, or 5am-11pm

You may refer to these websites for further information on bus services in the Greater Bangkok area:

To Pattaya by Air-con bus:

At 8, 9, 11AM and 5PM there's a direct service to Pattaya (B106 pp) and Jomtiem. This bus also calls at the Arrivals terminal, but I suggest that if you have time, you go to the bus station and catch it there!
Stops in Pattaya are on Sukhumvit Road at:

North Road (Pattaya Nua), Central Road (Pattaya Klang) and South Road (Pattaya Tai).

Cross very busy Sukhumvit Road and grab a songthaew (baht bus) into town.
Motorcycle taxis are always present as well for a quick and perhaps more exciting ride into town.

Special buses, vans and lmousines:

- Bell travel:

Bell travel have an office at Pattaya's BKK bus station on Pattaya North Road, at the Airport and in Bangkok.

They have proven to be very reliable.

(The information below is taken from a confirmation e-mail Bell Travel sent after booking a seat via e-mail, kindly sent to me by a respected forum member!)

Going to the Airport

From Bangkok:

Just like getting to Bangkok from the Airport but in reverse. Simply grab a metered cab, arrange a van or limousine pick up through your hotel or take a bus.

From Pattaya:

Taxi:

Booking at many stands and almost every hotel all over town, price B800. Private cars, limousines and vans are also available from B1200.

Bus:

Buses do not depart from Pattaya but from Jomtiem!

Four times a day there’s a non-stop service to the new airport.

Buses leave for the airport from Chaiyapruk 1 Rd, Jomtien Beach at 9.00, 13.00, 17.00, and 19.30.

Flagging one of these buses down on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya does not seem like a very good idea.
