    Taxi versus Uber (The Remix).

My girl spent the night and she had a early class this morning at a hospital (yes, that is correct: Medical Student) in Santo Domingo. I think it was a little before 7 AM and she was hitting Oper Taxi up in whatsapp. They were a little slow to respond so I said get on the phone. And I pulled out my iPhone to call her up a Uber (oh shit! I can hear the snickering now). She told me to wait. I called up program. Entered the destination and my location. Price estimate was 152 - 186 DOP with a 9 minute wait. My girl was like: "fuck that! Oper Taxi just told me 3 minutes". Thanked me. Gave me a kiss and she was out the door. Later, I asked her how much the taxi was to her destination: 250 DOP.

She is Dominican. She is paying with her own money. And medical students don't have a minute to waste. Now, I understand how some "struggle" to understand situations like this but I don't. Being a sexual tourist or sexpat with all the time in the world (and most of the money) allows one to leisurely move about the city (Santo Domingo and Santo Domingo Este) at ones own pace. I get that. What I don't get are sweeping statements that indicate a inability to step into the shoes of others and see their choices may make perfect sense to them.

In other Uber news: Waymo v, Uber trial. From CNET: "The trial kicked off on Monday with Waymo's lawyer Charles Verhoeven describing Uber as a cut-throat company that would do anything to win, including stealing from competitors and breaking the law. During Kalanick's testimony, Waymo attorney's showed him notes from a meeting held in late 2015 with members of Uber's self-driving project. The notes included a wish list that read: "source, all of their data, Tagging, road map, pound of flesh, IP".

Pound of flesh & IP. Wow! That's a smoking gun if I ever saw one! Good thing for him it isn't a murder trial. Because those notes go straight to showing motive.

That my man is some serious "man in the arena" game! I've passed the location many time not really paying attention to the name. A couple of my other buddies have told me they used to hang out at that spot too. Yesterday I passed it as I was returning home from running errands. It was about 5 PM. Things were just getting started.

Like I said in my post earlier, it's kinda hit or miss now. It's been about 2 years since I last went to that spot. I liked it, because I'm not a club guy, and it provided a nice open air environment with locals and music. Once, I was able to get a nice thick normal chica, meaning not an employee, to give me head in the parking lot in the back near the car washes. I have great memories there.

Yeah I hear. I've only been out there to use the cabanas one time, but I plan to investigate on my trip in April. I honestly would prefer a location closer to the water, even if it's only for viewing.

Billar Espana: I'll have to check it out.

Avenida Espana is jumping off. It's jam packed Thursday thru Sunday. Along with all the bars, restaurants, night clubs, colmados, and sidewalk food vendors, people also just side on the ocean side of the Avenida Espana hanging out, drinking, talking and listening to music. Heavy police presence is visible. The Texaco has finished it's major remodeling and is reopen for business and hotter than ever. That's right, I'm still claiming "east side"!

FYI, The girls there are also available for takeout. Overall I like Avenida Espana, and I could see myself living over there in some of the nicer more modern apartments.

Street food vendors are everywhere. Girls are also there but they are not there to fuck a gringo. Maybe you can make an introduction, get a number, and set something up for another day. Isabelita seems to have a colmado every two blocks with some set up in small alleys. Dominican salons and Banca lotteries round out the hood.

At night after 1 am I wouldn't recommend walking alone at night. I noticed some young hoodlums hanging in dark areas looking for a target to slip up.

    Sim card at airport

Hello guys I slowly preparing for my first dominic respublic trip and would like to ask its posible to buy any local sim card at las americas airport around 6 pm evening? I will need it for uber. Thanks!!

    Santo Domingo Este.

While searching for a second home I have had the pleasure of spending time in various areas at length. Avenida Espana has always excited me with its dirty malecon in spots and beautiful ocean. At night it comes alive but its very quiet during the day.

I found a two bedroom apartment for 500 usd a month with cable, WiFi, security, planta and hot water. It is located in Ensanche Isabelita, calle 8. If you know where Mixer night club is on Espana, you go up that street about six blocks and you see La Princessa furniture store. That's my new hood. Next to La Princessa is a H1 sore that has a Banco poplar, cafeteria, clothes and groceries all in one. Across the street is a gym with old equipment for 400 pesos a month and a lavanderia next door that charges me 500 pesos for my weekly laundry. The H11 bus stops on that corner and for 30 pesos you can go to Mega Centro. Isabelita is dirty, old and friendly during the day.

At night a walk to Espana has everything you could want. Andy's sports bar has chicken Parmesan with fries for 550 pesos that's pretty good. I hear the girls working there are open for take out but I don't like girls that are plump. Mixer is the upscale Dominican spot with a pool and the Las Vegas style couches around it. Its girls everywhere but my routine is to not fuck girls in a mile radius of where I live. One reason is my girl visited me and her cousin saw us walking and invited us over to catch up. She lives three doors down from my spot. But the main reason is because I know how those neighborhood girls are. I've stayed in areas where I'm banging a couple girls nearby and everything is cool because they probably have many guys from the hood they are banging. These girls gossip and talk in the salons and colmados but some are slick and keep it quiet. But I once made the mistake and brought an outside girl to the colmado with me and it was a problem. Girls don't mind you banging their friends in the neighborhood but bringing outside pussy in is a smack in their face, and the hate begins. When I went to the bathroom they told the girl I was no good and I bang street crackheads. The girl waited till we got to my house to start throwing things and acting a fool. For me its best to not get friendly with people that live close by, keep them guessing.

Overall I like Santo Domingo Este Isabelita because everything I need is close by. Because of the malecon and its activities it can be easy at day or busy at night. The aquario is a nice day date. La Zona is a 200 pesos ride away in cab and Boca Chica is 519 pesos in Uber. Oh, the roosters run the mornings and it took me about three days to get used to them. But the best part is I was the only American there LOL.

    Higher Price; Better Service; Taxi.

Contacted my driver via whatsapp the night before my plane landed. Kept in touch with me on the day of my flight. Was waiting for me as I exited the international arrivals corridor in SDQ and saw me before I saw him. Helped me with my bags at my destination. He is a taxi driver. 1200 pesos. Worth every peso.

I know this represents a inconvenient truth for the Uber faithful. But, I was not hitting the hooka when I wrote this.

I always give my Sims away before I leave with whatever minutes I have left. For the first day I use my personal cell phone. $10 AT&T. After my first day, I purchase a new Local Sim card with a month worth of data, and put it my personal phone to continue using my WhatsApp and other data Apps. Of course my personal phone is unlocked.

I give it away because I don't like chicas calling redundantly and memorizing my local number.
