But the damage is done. Americans are very good at fucking up monger paradises. Just look at Colombia right now. The problem with Cuba isn't only that casas owners and girls get too much greedy it is also the change of attitude and this won't change back even with Trump.

This time I stayed at a Casa with a pool, butler and 4-5 star, in Miramar and it cost us 125 CUC per night but it was very very nice. I don't expect everyone to want to pay that much but for me it was worth it.

I know a good contact in Havana who is available to help with booking Casas and arranging drivers, good cigars and entertainment suggestions. A group of 6 friends of mine went to Havana and used my Contact to get a Casa, Driver and they partied every day! They were very pleased with the service. PM me and I will be happy to provide Contact info. BTW--its a former girlfriend of a good friend of mine and she also has a house where you can rent a room (or 2) for 25 cuc / night each.

I have a place that might work for you. Mind you, I have not stayed there but happens that on my last trip (November) as I got in the elevator another guy was coming down and we said "buenos dias".

He asked me if I was staying at Nola's place and I responded positively. He then offers me his place which is upstairs from where I was staying, and it's on the top floor (penthouse) in case I ever need to rent it if Nola's place was not available.

I asked if he could show it to me and we jetted back up to his place.

This place is muy (very) nice by my standards. It's a penthouse and it has 3 separate bedrooms with full kitchen, living room, baths, think he told me each bedroom has it's own bath. Has an amazing 360% view (AWESOME) around the apartment with a walkway all around..
    Thanks for quick reply.

Good bathrooms are pretty essential IMHO.

Locations is good, definitely on the shortlist.

Hobby friendly and even the cost sounds reasonable when split several ways.

I can't find any "Asturia" place, neither "Fantasy" in Havana. Are you sure of these names?

Obviously hobby friendly, (although we're the definition of "discrete". Usually), somewhere we can happily bring the chica's back to so need an entire apartment or house.

If I was solo I'd search something (economical) but with a couple of wingmen we can afford a little quality. Would be nice with balconies, outside space, even a pool.

Last year stayed at Hotel National and I was youngest guy there by about 30 years, don't need that kind of vibe.

    Anyone found anything similar recently?

Now, another monger from this site which we met in la Habana on my last trip asked me about this place and I gave him the email addy and he later email me back saying the guy wants $200 a day for the whole place. He travels solo this time and mentioned it's way too much for him.

So, if like you say in your post you have some wing men (buddies) with you and don't mind springing this much CUC daily on a pad, I'd recommend this place.

Location is a couple of blocks from the Hotel Nacional and building sits in front of the Malecon.

Let me know if it works for you so I can send you the contact info.

    Mondo.

PS, Forgot, there is no pool.

Returning to Habana after many years

I'm planning to return to Cuba after many years. I was there for 5 times around 2001. It doesn't sound like things have changed that much but the people that I worked with are no longer available or at least no longer answer their email. I am planning a trip with one friends in February for about 10 days. We probably will stay only in Havana. Obviously we're still thinking about some of the details. I'm hoping the people here can direct me to people in Cuba who can assist me. Can anyone give some advice or point me in the right direction?

Driver-I'm looking for someone who can drive. When I last was there I had a driver all day and night for $20 including gas and tip. I'm sure things are going up a little bit. What people have any recommendations and how much is it going to run now?

Local barrio guy-The second person we need maybe trickier. I had this guy Tony who introduced us to tons of women. We were friends and it was done informally. If anyone has any suggestions that would be wonderful. If not, I understand fully.

Casa-Housing is less critical. We can book a house for one night on the internet and then look around. There's tons of people who can show us around and of course they get a commission or you can just wander around yourself. We're looking for Centro Habana which is the easiest for meeting women, at least it was then. Vedado is generally much nicer but the trips back and forth got tiring even with a wonderful driver available instantly.

Dating Websites-My final question is probably the most important one and the one that I've had the most trouble figuring out on my own. When I was there before, I was spending longer amounts of time there and met women once I was there. This will be a shorter trip and so I'd like to prepare. At the time there was not so much use of the internet dating sites. The best one was amigos.com which wasn't very good. There was one Technological University that had access to the internet and so almost all the girls on amigos.com came from that one University. One of my friends now says that it might be tinder. I know that like in the Dominican Republic there's Dominicancupid.com. There is also tagged, badoo, wechat, as well as general apps like Whatsapp, Google Hangouts, etc. How can I find nice chicas now and start to communicate with them before the trip?

I just got back from Havana and I stayed here at Hans and Elizabeth Casa in Vedado. It's large and spacious and newly renovated, great location one block from the Malecon and 3 blocks from the Melia Cohiba Hotel. Most importantly it's chica friendly, no ID requirements for the chicas, just be sure to let Hans know you will be bringing in some chicas.

Or you could try my favorite place Casa Particular Alejandro Penthouse Independent Apartment.

    First Trip to Cuba

It was a toss up between Bogota and Havana. Havana won out. Wanted to get there before it gets more difficult. Just booked my flight and accomodation. I will be staying in a hotel. However, I plan to be very discreet. There will be no propositioning of women whatsoever. However, if I am propositioned......

Hahahaha! No need to be single. Cuba is a mongers paradise, in which many of us are single while we are there!

Havana is definitely good for the ego. LOL.

Fresh off the plane, my first hour there I went out to buy some groceries for and had two young things that spotted me from a couple blocks away follow me all the way down to the store to introduce themselves and ask if I wanted to hang out (I walked slow to let them catch up). Very cute light skinned mulattas. I was tired from the flight but go one's number and bought them a pack of cigarettes. I ended up calling her and we banged the next day. .

Damn, I miss La Isla Grande.

    Update.

Talked to a supervisor yesterday with Southwest Airlines and she said currently you can still "self certify " with the airlines. Her understanding is that the tour group organizations aren't prepared to take over totally so it's a grace period until everything is in place and ready to go. Once the order is fully in effect travelers will be required to book through the tour groups and certifying will be with the tour organizations. In other words get there soon before everything is in place.

Pay attention to the airlines because as they scale down flights and hand over certification we will feel the change.
